Mixed media has really been my thing lately….I found that being an “artistic multi-personality” pays off when you combine different techniques and media to produce a coherent piece. Aside from my digital photo collage work, I’ve been doing some watercolors mixed with actual cut-&-paste collage and sometimes photography, as in my newest piece, “The Umbrella Dream”. This 15″x20″ inch work is done on heavy, slightly textured watercolor paper and is based on a macabre, bizarre dream I had a few months ago, which took place in a hill top cemetery (which doesn’t exist in reality…as far as I know…) which had black umbrellas perched atop of each tombstone. It was a dreary, cloudy day….the rest has faded but here’s the piece that this dream inspired:
The framed, signed original, as well as printed repros, are currently available. For more info., reply to this blog or email me at forestwalker333@hotmail.com (Paypal accepted to this addy).
I hope you like the new work!

Happy Spring…even if it does NOT feel like it…in NJ at least. But I know Mother Nature will come through soon and send some warmer weather. And in honor of this season of re-birth, I’m in some spring art exhibits….one is in Morristown, NJ & the other is ONLINE so you ALL can see it from the comfort of your cozy homes.
First up is the RITES OF SPRING, juried, group show hosted by the Arts Council of the Morris Area at Gallery at 14 Maple, Morristown, NJ. This exciting show opens Wednesday, 3/27/13, 6-8pm. Come visit this amazing green gallery space where everything is constructed of natural, recycled materials and there’s even an indoor vertical garden going through the center of the building! One of my X-RAYted digital photo collages is in this show.
My solo, online show features many of my digital photo collages from my X-RAYted series. The show will be up until 4/15/13 on Caladan Gallery‘s website: http://www.CaladanGallery.com Thanks to gallery director Marjorie Kaye for giving me this opportunity! Since this is online I hope you’ll all take a minute to check it out and post any comments here on my blog. A note…all the prices for my work in this show INCLUDE framing and s/h/insurance!!
Thanks for reading and looking forward to seeing you at an event or reading your comments!

Social networking does work and it’s great when you make connections that really click! I connected with artist/Churn Magazine guru Jeff Monje via LinkedIn and right away he was kind enough to feature me in his art zine! So, of course, I invited him to be a guest blogger here to return the favor and so he could share his inspiration with you as to how he developed his project. So, here’s what he has to say…check out CHURN…you won’t be disappointed!
WAIT! Before you jump to any conclusions about the contents of this book (although if you’ve been reading my blog &/or facebook posts you already know what this book is about), it’s not “x-rayted” in the way you might think…this MAY disappoint some of you but I promise that this book is a unique collection of my recent artwork that’s sure to please!
This 20 full color, glossy paged book, with black cloth hard-cover, shows examples of many of my digital photo collage series, X-RAYted. I actually photograph human x-rays and digitally collage them with other original photos, Victorian woodcut images and sometimes text to create interesting, anatomical art. Many of these pieces have been exhibited throughout NJ, in Detroit, and online, have been sold to collectors in 5 states and The Netherlands and were featured on my episode of the Science Channel’s TV show, ODDITIES! Also, my piece Micro/Macrocosm Tree has won TWO awards including the Ray Bradbury 1st Place Art Award!
So, you can see why I’m excited about this series and why I wanted to create an art book about it to share with you! And now you can get your own signed copy of the book…and maybe even a framed print…here’s a sneak peek into the book & the info. to order yours today:

So far we seem to be coming thru 12/21/12 OK and I got a great surprise on this Yule/Winter Solstice day when well-known “Artrepreneur”, Renee Phillips, featured me and 2 other artists on her art blog today! A positive way to begin a new era! http://reneephillips.blogspot.com/2012/12/savor-process-of-reaching-your-goals.html
Here’s to a great, New Year!
Cheers!

This year, like most before it, has been filled with ups and downs, but this time some of the “downs” were more extreme and dramatic than in former years. Even if we don’t believe the Mayan predictions for tomorrow’s prophesied date of 12/21/12, I think deep down we’re all curious to see what will happen by the time the clock strikes midnight! So, in light of the tragic events that have occurred this year, as well as the good things that have happened, I’d like to send all of you positive energy of hope and peace this holiday season and for the new year, and winter wishes of happiness, health and prosperity! I hope you enjoy this set of holiday images I’ve created over the years. Happy Yule/Winter Solstice, Merry Christmas & Happy 2013!! See you on the other side of 12/21/12…

Autumn has been crazy busy so far between the usual freelance commissions and exhibits but then there’s also all the fun Halloween events going on too! I LOVE this time of year and the crisp air, sunny days and brightly colored trees…and spooky Halloween decor!…really get me in full creative mode so I’m excited to have various types of my work featured on 3 very different but equally awesome art websites! So, while you’re sitting in the comfort of your home, check out these sites for advice from artists on getting into galleries, to purchase very affordable holiday scrapbooking stamps and to see some seasonably gothic, dark artwork and literature!
